Why Organic Matters

The reason we use organic ingredients is simple: we want natural food that’s better for us and for the environment.

Eating organic food reduces your exposure to synthetic pesticides, added hormones, antibiotics and chemical fertilizers. Some studies show that organic food contains more of certain vitamins, minerals and omega-3 fatty acids (ALA). Organic ingredients cannot contain genetically modified organisms (GMO’s).

Organic farming also enriches the soil, results in cleaner water and air, preserves biodiversity and reduces impacts on global warming.

All products labeled as organic must meet stringent standards established by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). There are three types of organic labels:

  • Made with Organic Ingredients —for products made with at least 70% organic ingredients, with standards for the other 30% of ingredients.
  • Organic — for products made with at least 95% organic ingredients, with standards for the other 5% of ingredients.
  • 100% Organic — for products that contain 100% organic ingredients.
